Protected areas and part of the Iron Gates Natural Park, at the entrance of the Danube into Romania we have a fewof wetlands which are house to numerous species of plants and animals: Nera bong, a small delta formed at the spill of the Nera river in the Danube, Calinovat Island, the first island on the river on our territory, of small size and the Island Ostrov in Moldova Veche, which houses about 100 wild horses, as well as countless tipes of aquatic birds and other protected small animals and plants.
